9/2/23 Cool Breeze Invitational (Pomona Fair Grounds)
This is the season kickoff, the first time this version of the team competes together. Invitationals are a great opportunity for our runners to compete against runners from all over the state and against runners in their grade/skill level, they do not impact our league standing. The race features a unique format as it allows for teams to enter up to 10 members into the varsity division. This flat and fast course on grass and dirt. This course is great for spectators and will start in the late afternoon/early evening so you can feel the “Cool Breeze”. This will be our team's first trip to this meet and we look forward to going head-to-head with some of the top schools we will be running against at CIF prelims. Medals will be given to the top 30 runners in each race.
9/9/23 Rosemead Invitational (Rosemead High School)
Another fast flat course offering a great opportunity for athletes of all grades a chance at earning a medal given to the top 75 in each race. The meet will also allow the team to compete as Senior, Junior, Sophomore, Freshman, in order to keep the less experienced and experienced in their own race to provide a great environment for competition.Last year the team won the Freshman and Junior girls team and individual (Odyssea, Hailie) titles. We had plenty of personal and season best times last year and hope to repeat that success this year.
9/16 Woodbridge Invitational (Great Park, Irvine, CA)
Woodbridge is a nationally known invitational with teams coming from all over the country, this is one of the big ones. This is a fan favorite that all runners look forward to every year as it is as fast of a course you're gonna see, completely flat, and run under the lights. Another fantastic opportunity for a season or personal best. This meet will be run as a varsity division for the top 7 boys/girls. Other runners will be competing against runners in their grade level. Parking must be pre-paid, see the link below.

9/23 CBL #1 CSUSB, (hosted by Cajon)
This is for keeps now. The team will begin the defense of their titles as girls look to become back-to-back CBL champs for the first time, while the boys will begin their attempt at a three-peat. The team will race against the five local teams that make up the Citrus Belt League. We will race Redlands, REV, Cajon, Yucaipa, and Beaumont. This meet is worth 25% of the total league standings. Top seven from each team will race varsity and all others will be in the JV race.
Races start at 7:30 AM and will begin immediately following the previous race.
Race order:
JV Girls, Varsity Girls, Varsity Boys, JV Boys.
This meet features a unique format by racing your 1-2 runners, 3-5 runners in one race and your 6,7+ in separate races. At the end of the day, they will merge each level to figure out the overall team champion. This allows more athletes to have the opportunity to compete for the win. Last year the team won the Varsity Boys, Varsity Girls, and Frosh/Soph Girls divisions.
After a break from racing the team returns to league competition facing our local rivals again with another 25% towards the league standings at stake. This will be the same format as CBL 1, with seven varsity runners in one race and a separate race for JV.
Races start at 7:30 AM and will begin immediately following the previous race.
Race order:
JV Girls, Varsity Girls, Varsity Boys, JV Boys.
10/21 Mt. SAC Invitational (Mt SAC, Walnut, CA)
The team's first trip to compete at the famous or infamous Mt. SAC course. This is another one of the staples in Southern California cross country. This course is perhaps the most challenging course the team will encounter, hope you've been training hills. This is a great barometer for teams hoping to compete at CIF Prelims and Finals, it will let you know where you stand as a team and an individual. Last year was highlighted by Diego Caldera winning his heat in the boy's sophomore division and Odyssea and Allegra going 1-2 in the Freshman division.
This is the final race of the regular season, only the top three teams and top 10 individual runners will be moving on to CIF competition. This meet will determine individual league champions, and all-league honors for the top 10 varsity finishers, and is worth 50% of the team championship standings. Last year's team swept both team titles, individual champion (Hailie Lomeli), 5 boys named all-league (including Chris, Diego, and Mateo), and four girls earned all-league (including Hailie, Alegra, and Gabby).
Races start at 7:30 AM and will begin immediately following the previous race.
Race order:
JV Girls, Varsity Girls, Varsity Boys, JV Boys.
This will be our first step towards earning our way to CIF Finals. Only 16 teams from each Division will be moving on. This race will be for varsity qualifiers and alternates only. This is full playoff mode, advancing is the name of the game. Last year the girls team advanced as they took second in their heat, and the boys took sixth. Boys advanced on the tie-breaker, earning senior Ethan Romero a shot at finals and eventually the state meet. Don’t forget to purchase your patches and other merchandise. CV is in Division II and will be racing on Friday morning 11/10.
Here we go, this is the final race of the CIF section competition. All CIF honors are on the line, and perhaps more importantly a trip to the CIF State meet. Also, the top three teams receive plaques. Last year this was the end of the line for the boys as a team, but they were proudly represented at the state meet by Senior Ethan Romero. The girls on the other hand took care of business and finished 5th earning the schools first ever trip to State as a team. We look to improve on that success this year.
For qualifiers fortunate and talented enough this is your reward, a chance to compete against the most elite teams at the highest level. This is the culmination of all your hard work, fall back on your training, trust your ability, and give it your all. Our team was represented last year by Ethan who was the first male qualifier in school history. The girls once again took care of business here last year, finishing in 8th place as a team, well above their expected ranking.
